Payroll Certification – Phase IV Now Available

By Asirra Suguitan, Associate Vice Chancellor and Campus Controller |

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting UCR’s payroll certification process. Phase IV of Payroll Certification is now available, covering the six-month certification period January 1–June 30, 2026.

Timely review and certification are important to ensuring the University meets its compliance responsibilities and maintains accurate payroll records. Please review the Phase IV timeline and required actions below.

Review & Certification Timeline

  • October 7 – Phase IV Released: Department Coordinators begin reviewing Phase IV payroll certifications.
  • October 28 – Coordinator Reviews Due: Coordinators submit completed certifications to the appropriate Principal Investigator (PI).
  • November 18 – PI Certifications Due: PIs will be notified when certifications are ready for review and have three weeks to complete certification.

Important Update – Additional Prior-Period Certifications

As part of enhancements to the Payroll Certification process, some departments may notice additional certifications for prior periods. These certifications were generated to address gaps in historical payroll certification coverage and help ensure that applicable payroll is appropriately certified.

Previously completed certifications have not been changed and do not need to be recertified.

Department Coordinators should review any newly generated certifications and complete them through the normal certification process. If you are unsure whether a certification requires action, please contact emf@ucr.edu for assistance.

These enhancements also improve how certification periods are generated when awards are extended, helping ensure continuous payroll certification coverage going forward.

Access & Resources

Payroll Certification can be accessed through R’Space Authorized Apps. Training and support resources for Department Coordinators and PIs are available on the BFS website.

Thank you for your attention to this important process and for helping ensure certifications are completed within the established review periods. We appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to supporting UCR’s compliance efforts.

Sincerely,
