I am pleased to announce the appointment of David Gee as the Director of Procurement, Business Contracts, Accounts Payable and Travel in the division of Business & Financial Services. The position was offered to David after an extensive search which began early this fiscal year. David brings progressively responsible campus procurement services experience to the position as well as private sector purchasing and laboratory experience gained prior to joining UCR in 2008. David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from CSU San Bernardino and a Master of Public Administration degree from California Baptist University. He holds several professional certifications including Certified Professional in Supply Management, Certified Public Procurement Officer and Certified Professional Public Buyer. David’s appointment became effective on Monday, November 16, 2015.

David will be responsible for implementing our campus "Procure-to-Pay" business model and more streamlined processes for reimbursements, which was envisioned as part of BAS’ ongoing Organizational Excellence and Lean Planning initiatives. The procure-to-pay model aligns with the UC Office of the President’s organizational structure. The re-organization of some of the former Material Management units under Business and Financial Services earlier this year provided an opportunity to better integrate the procurement, accounts payable, and business contracts functions; with these units reporting to a single director, a more efficient and seamless customer experience is a priority objective. Furthermore, with the relocation of many of the Business and Financial Services units to the Intellicenter (UC PATH Center building) in April 2015, even greater synergies across the various functions have been achieved.
